One of the most common faults seen on a vehicle is the CVT belt failure. While these bug fixes can be expensive, most of them can be easily prevented. The easiest way to extend the life of the CVT belt is to use the low speed range when running the vehicle at high speed. High temperature is one of the biggest enemies of the belt. Most CVT system clutches combine the fan blades with the clutch design, and the faster the clutch rotates, the more air is passed over the belt drive housing. By operating the vehicle in a low range, you not only impose less pressure on the belt, but also move additional cooling air on the moving parts. It makes them colder and helps them last longer.
The second most common failure we have seen is the hourglass. The term hourglass comes from the way the belt looks like this failure. If you turn the belt toward the side, you can see it narrowing from full width to the narrow part of the burn, and then back to full width. The most common cause of the belt hourglass is that when the vehicle is jammed, the operator applies a full throttle to move the vehicle. When this happens, the drive clutch will rotate at full speed, but when the belt is not moving, the clutch will overheat the belt because the drive clutch contacts the drive clutch and then adjusts the belt for hours.
Depending on the degree of hourglass, the belt and drive system can still function after this occurs, but when the hourglass part of the belt crosses the clutch, the vehicle will display the drive train. The best way to prevent hourglass is to use a low drive range when using the drive system where you may be stuck. If you are stuck, and use the throttle is not moving the vehicle, either use your winch to extract your vehicle, or have another car drag you into a place where you are no longer caught in the soil, sand or water.
