In the market, there are various kinds of mechanical parts. No matter how small or big they are, all of them are very vital for the whole machine. Among the numerous components, belts are rather simple and common, meanwhile, they are also indispensable.

Belts have a wide usage. For example, drive belts are commonly used for power transmission. It is a seamless belt that is used to transmit torque and power from one wheel or shaft to another in a machine or any mechanical system. In vehicles, there is a drive belt system which powers the water pump, the air conditioning, power steering, brakes and alternator among other components. Because power is quite important for vehicles to run regularly, obviously, this important component also plays a very important role in transmitting the power. As a result, it is very necessary for machine owners to take care of the drive belt and check it on each time they change the oil. This intends to ensure that it is working regularly without any problem, which will also guarantee the proper work of the whole system.

Drive belts are used for different jobs in different pieces of machinery, which generates two different types of belt drives. The first belt drive is called an open belt and this one is just used for same direction movements. The second belt is a closed belt which is used for the opposite, different direction movements.

It's time to actually see the advantages of a belt drive, they are as followed

• They don't require Parallel shafts.

• They are provided with overload and jam protection.

• Noise and vibration are damped out. Machinery life is increased because load fluctuations are shock-absorbed.

• They are lubrication-free. They require less maintenance cost.

• They are highly efficient in use (up to 98%, usually 95%).

• They are very economical, when distance between shafts is very large.

At first you should check the tension and general condition of the belt. This step is very useful to ensure whether the vehicle is in proper condition. When inspecting the drive belt, you should pay attention to many aspects. For instance, cracks, the presence of frays, and missing ribs, etc. Any of these problems should be dealt with.

Secondly, you should ensure that you inspect the entire length of the belt surface. Except the above mentioned elements, sometimes, vehicles may produce a squealing sound which may be a sign of losing or wearing out of it. This is because a loose belt may slip and subsequently produce a squealing sound, causing the alternator to vibrate rapidly, thereby wearing it out more easily. You should replace the drive belt to make sure the safety when you notice that the sign of wearing out is quite obvious.

Addition to the above aspects, it is also very important to inspect the drive belts before problems appear. If there is any problem with the drive belt, you should find out the reasons. And you should replace the drive belt if necessary. The proper status of the drive belt may ensure that the vehicle can run under a good situation.

According to the above analysis, we can safely draw the conclusion that the drive V Belt is a rather important component for power transmission. And the appropriate inspection of it becomes necessary. You should make sure that it is under the proper situation.
