There are various mechanical parts which are involved in the power transmission such as pulleys, shaft couplings, speed reducers, sprockets, universal joints, and gearboxes, etc. Drive belt is a vital part which is used to transmit power. It is the cheapest utility for power transmission between shafts that may not be parallel.
A belt is a looped strip of flexible material, used to mechanically link two or more rotating shafts. They may be used as a source of motion, to efficiently transmit power, or to track relative movement. Belts are looped over pulleys. In a two pulley system, the belt can either drive the pulleys in the same direction, or the belt may be crossed, so that the direction of the shafts is opposite. As a source of motion, a conveyor belt is one application where the belt is adapted to continually carry a load between two points.
Belts are used widely in many areas. For example, drive belts are commonly used for power transmission. It is a seamless belt that is used to transmit torque and power from one wheel or shaft to another in a machine or any mechanical system. As is mentioned in the above, the belts work together with pulleys to have the power transmission. In vehicles, there is a drive belt system which powers the water pump, the air conditioning, power steering, brakes and alternator among other components. Because power is quite important for vehicles to run regularly, obviously, this important component also plays a very important role in transmitting the power. As a result, it is very necessary for machine owners to take care of the drive belt and check it on each time they change the oil. This intends to ensure that it is working regularly without any problem, which will also guarantee the proper work of the whole system.
When we change our belts, in most cases, the front clutch internally falls apart. You don’t need to feel stressful, because it just costs two minutes to fix it now. Anytime a belt comes off, breaks or is being replaced, we need to realize with the belt gone, the front clutch has no pressure on it to stay intact, so they fall apart internally. With all this talk about clutches falling apart, we might throw up our hands and say "forget it, just take it to the shop". Well, don't. You can do this, it's easy. If you want to change the belt, the following can help you more.
•Remove the cover plate (which has to come off to replace the belt anyways)
•Unscrew/Unbolt the Front Clutch (takes one minute)
•You will see in the Clutch that all the rollers are all mixed up. Simply separate the clutch and put the rollers back in their slots (one minute). Poof... you are done. That was easy.
•A note of caution - You must hold the clutch together while putting it back in and keep pressure on it so the rollers don't come loose while you are putting the V Belt China back on.
