Industrial Rubber V Belt Products is an industry sector covering essentially all rubber-related manufacturing, with the exception of tire products. It's a very diversified sector of the rubber industry, with such rubber products as extruded profiles, hoses, belts, sheeting and roofing, geomembranes, films, roll coverings, vibration isolation devices, fuel cells, diaphragms, gaskets, o-rings, tubes, footwear, foamed insulation tubes and sheets, among others.
Due to the diversity of industrial rubber products applications, the sector has a spectrum of performance requirements, ranging from common strength properties to fluid resistance, permeation, conductivity, friction coefficient, and dynamic properties, and more. Rubber belts can be made from rubber strips glued end-to-end. Rubber cement will work OK. Much better is the glue used in innertube tire repair kits (bicycle shops have this.) Note that this glue has toxic fumes and probably shouldn't be used by kids except with adult supervision. I've heard that cyanoacrylate "crazy glue" works well, but have not tried it myself yet.
Natural rubber, also called India rubber, as initially produced, consists of polymers of the organic compound isoprene, with minor impurities of other organic compounds plus water. Malaysia is one of the leading producers of rubber. Forms of polyisoprene that are used as natural rubbers are classified as elastomers. Natural rubber is used by many manufacturing companies for the production of rubber products. Currently, rubber is harvested mainly in the form of the latex from the rubber tree or others. The latex is a sticky, milky colloiddrawn off by making incisions into the bark and collecting the fluid in vessels in a process called "tapping". The latex then is refined into rubber ready for commercial processing. Natural rubber is used extensively in many applications and products, either alone or in combination with other materials. In major areas latex is allowed to coagulate in the collection cup. The coagulated lumps are collected and processed into dry forms for marketing. In most of its useful forms, it has a large stretch ratio and high resilience, and is extremely waterproof.
